Harris Happenings 2012

HARRIS HAPPENINGS  DECEMBER 2012

John 1:16 From the fullness of His Grace we have all received one blessing after another.

In February Wesley and I spent almost 2 weeks in Honduras.  It was such a blessed time. We spent the first part of the trip in La Ceiba.  We visited, encouraged and prayed for many friends. Wesley preached at the church one night.  We get homesick every time we go to Iglesia Hermandad Cristiana.

Much of the time we spent in Tegucigalpa with Lazarus’s  family.  One of his daughters, Keila, married Austin South, a guy she met who was serving Jesus by loving and helping the poor in Honduras.  It was such a wonderful time of fellowship with all of the Coellos (except Carla, who couldn’t make it because she was having a baby).  Vany’s family was there, all the way from Korea.  It had been many years since we saw her and Steve.  Both she and Isai, who was there from Guatemala, are like daughters to us.

In March I went to Peru with Kristen Harris and Nicole Bryant.  We worked with Spirit Led Expeditions.  It was my first time to go to Peru, and I experienced a little altitude sickness.  We visited a school, some Quechua villages, a home for disabled children, a clinic, and a hospital which was built to minister to the Quechuas.  Peru is a beautiful country with very friendly and loving people.  My Spanish felt pretty rusty, but people were kind and patient.

In June Wesley went back to Peru with Grace Fellowship.  It was a medical and dental trip to Andahualas.  They had a great time of ministry.  He was able to work with some of the same people he has worked with for the past 5 years.

In August Wesley went to Honduras and worked at Loma de Luz Hospital.  He took a good friend of ours, Brent Chitwood, with him.  While Wesley saw patients at the hospital, Brent, who is an artist, painted murals at the children’s home.  They were able to go out to Barranco Chele and visit the church there and treat some patients that Wesley had been trying to help by phone from the US.  They visited the church in La Ceiba, and Wesley preached there and got to visit with Pastor Donny and his family.

Tim and Taryn still live in Newnan, GA, and he continues working at Chick Fil A Corp. as a contractor.  Back in February they went to visit their North African country and friends.  They were able to visit two different cities, including the one where Tim lived for about 4 months.  It was Taryn’s first visit there. In June, they welcomed the birth of Thaddeus Joel, who is truly a bundle of joy and sweetness.  Pray for God’s grace as they learn in this new phase of life called parenting.

Heidi, Daniel, Isabel, Carson, and Kylie have also been in Newnan, GA this past year.  He has been the middle school pastor at Crossroads Church, and they have continued to home school Isabel and Carson.  Daniel went to Nepal in October, where he taught different pastors and leaders from across the country.  They will be moving to Chattanooga, TN in January, where they will be starting a church.   Pray for God to provide the house that they need to get started on this adventure of faith, and much grace and humility as they begin this new journey.

Travis and Kelsey moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico in June for him to attend San Juan Bautista School of Medicine.  They have gone through some tough trials this past year, but God’s grace is sustaining them day by day.  Their big news is that they are expecting a baby girl in April!  Pray that God would continue to use them to shine His light in the darkness in Puerto Rico, and keep giving them the grace they need daily to walk in the path He leads them.

Thank you for your love, prayers, and partnership in ministry this past year.  We wish you all a very merry and joyful Christmas.   May you be filled with the Holy Spirit and led by Him in this New Year ahead!

In Jesus,

Terri Harris

Please note that we now have a website (though I am still working on it!)  We will try to keep it updated with news, prayer requests, etc.
